The Millennium Centre (St Helens) Ltd is delighted to announce that it has exchanged contracts to acquire the historic Mansion House in Victoria Park, marking a significant milestone as the charity celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Twenty-five years ago, The Millennium Centre transformed the former Rivoli Cinema into what has become one of St Helens’ leading centres for health, wellbeing and community services. Since opening in 2001, the charity has developed into a thriving community hub, bringing together NHS services, charities, voluntary organisations and community groups, supporting thousands of local people every year.
The exchange of contracts represents the next chapter in the charity’s history and demonstrates its continued commitment to protecting important community assets while investing in the future of St Helens.
The Grade II listed Mansion House is one of the borough’s most significant historic buildings. The Millennium Centre is committed to preserving its heritage and ensuring it continues to serve the community for generations to come.

I have been fortunate to spend much of my life working alongside dedicated colleagues and volunteers to improve health, wellbeing and community services across St Helens. From helping establish Willowbrook Hospice, to serving local charities and bringing The Millennium Centre to life, every project has shared the same purpose – leaving our community stronger than we found it.
The Mansion House has played an important role in the history of our borough and deserves a secure future. We are proud to be taking on that responsibility and look forward to sharing our long-term vision for the building with the community following completion of the acquisition.”
The Millennium Centre has become one of St Helens’ leading community organisations, providing a home for a wide range of health, wellbeing and voluntary sector services. The acquisition of the Mansion House reflects the charity’s long-term commitment to safeguarding important community assets and ensuring they continue to benefit local people.
Detailed plans for the future use of the Mansion House will be developed following completion of the acquisition and will be shared with the community in due course.
